Fantasy Football Rush: Week 1
Brees is a good start this week
(drewbrees.com)

It's important to get out to a good start with your fantasy squad, which you no doubt put more time and effort in to than picking your last anniversary present.

However, Week 1 is tough because you still don't know what you are going to get out of your players. You know what you should get based on last season, but a year later is a year later.

For example, in one of my leagues I am torn at who to start at the WR spot for Week 1; two spots to either Torry Holt, Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin. I have nothing to go on other than my gut, and that can be a dangerious thing.

So, let us here at The Phanatic help you out with your Week 1 lineup troubles.

And this hint is free: start LaDainian Tomlinson .

Good starts:

QB - Drew Brees, Saints: Big spotlight and a weak Colts defense equals big numbers out of this stud.

QB - Alex Smith, 49ers: Made major strides last year and gets to open at home against the Cardinals, who were horrid against the pass in 2006 and did little to change that for this season.

QB - Matt Leinart, Cardinals: I'm high on this guy for 2007 and how can you not be with his offensive choices. The Arizona-San Francisco contest is going to feature a lot of points, so make sure you cash in if you can.

RB - Travis Henry, Broncos: Should be motivated with a new team against the club that drafted him and gave up on him.

RB - Tatum Bell, Lions: Will secure the starting job away from Kevin Jones with a big game against Oakland this week.

RB - Shaun Alexander, Seahawks: The comeback trail begins versus Tampa Bay.

WR - Terrell Owens, Cowboys: A quite offseason and a Sunday night game means T.O. is ready to get back in the headlines.

WR - Boldin/Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals: Start either one if you have them and send my thanks via email.

TE - Randy McMichael, Rams: Will emerge as a go-to guy in the red zone for the Rams.

Bad starts:

QB - Rex Grossman, Bears: Is going to get eaten alive by the Chargers defense, which is a great start this week by the way.

QB - J.P. Losman, Bills: Took major strides in 2006, but faces a great secondary in Denver.

QB - Brett Farve, Packers - Against the Birds? Come on! My homer pick of the week.

RB - Jamal Lewis, Browns - Not this week versus the Steelers.

RB - Chester Taylor, Vikings - Wait and see how they use Peterson first.

RB - Rudi Johnson, Bengals - Draws a tough first week assignment against Ravens.

WR - Reggie Brown, Eagles - All depends on Donovan.

WR - Randy Moss, Patriots - Is he even going to play?

TE - Alge Crumpler, Falcons - Needs to adjust to a new QB on the road.
