Rowand to command $84 million over 6 years
$84 million dollar man?
 

There is growing speculation that free-agent Phillies center fielder Aaron Rowand will wind up getting $84 million over six years.

The Phillies believe they can retain Rowand, who is is coming of a season in which he hit .309 with 45 doubles, 27 homers and 89 RBI.

Interested teams include the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals.


King safe for another year

Sixers chairman Ed Snider told the Philadelphia Daily News that team president Billy King and head coach Maurice Cheeks are very much in charge of the Sixers' building program, and that he would not judge success this season based on wins and losses.

King and Cheeks are both in the final season of a contract.

"He's the man," Snider said of King. "I am happy enough to see if the plan is working."


Dawkins to see neck specialist

The Camden Courier Post is reporting that Eagles safety Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkings took a couple days to see an out-of-town neck specialist.

"Nerves are crazy, and you start dealing with those stingers, and you're dealing with nerves," coach Andy Reid said. "Everybody is different. We're just going to get him taken care of and see how he does here as we get into next week."
